Red Brick Kindergarten
We believe that children need and actually do better in an environment that fosters independence through organized hands-on activities. Our kindergarten classes employ various techniques to educate the whole child including, teacher-directed curriculum, student-centered instruction, and cooperative learning. Opportunities are given through theme lessons and activities to integrate all subjects: math, science, language arts, social studies, art, music, and gross motor.
Highlights of our program include:
1. Low ratio and small class sizes. Our classes contain a maximum of 14 children with a teacher a full-time teaching assistant. This is extremely beneficial to everyone because it fosters quality leaning at each child’s developmental level. This atmosphere helps the children feel that they are integral part of the learning community.
2. Longer Day: Our school day begins at 8:40am and ends at 1:30 (versus public kindergarten).
3. Extended Day: We offer before school care between 8:15 and 8:40 and extended day until 3:00. Our afternoon extended program consists of daily exploration activities.
4. Specials: The kindergarten students benefit from weekly lessons in art, music, and gym. Monthly trips to the library reinforce the importance of literature in the curriculum.
5. Field Trips: In addition, field trips are planned to correlate with the curriculum. Past trips include, Plimoth Plantation, Mystic Aquarium, and Audubon.
6.
Graduation Ceremony.
